So a brand new R8 showed up at work today, but I barely got a chance to drive but when I did, those few feet were something else.

That car is such a great well-rounded vehicle.

Yes. It is why I must own one someday.

That is just.......hold on, I need towel........ alright back. This is probably in one of the top 5 best-looking vehicles of all time for me. Along with the F-Type Coupe, Murcielago LP640, 911 GT3 RS and the Ford GT (or the new Viper).
Thank you for the pictures, keep them coming. Like the variety. Where are you located? I've yet to hear of a local dealership that hand washes your ride and details it after service, that is top notch stuff!

I figure I can buy a 2014 model in 20 years.
That's not that long to wait, right?!

I'm really not a fan of the Spyder. The coupe though....

The price isn't too bad on this one.

That's the best you can do now unfortunately. Oh to be an original R8 owner...I'd be hard pressed to find another production car that's holding its value this well.
In 15-20 years I'm hoping you'll be able to find one with reasonable miles for $50,000 or less. Hopefully even cheaper.
I feel like it's going to be this generations NSX: a reliable supercar that 10-15 years after production goes for relatively cheap, then turns into a bit of a collectors item and starts climbing in value

That sounds like an accurate prediction. Sad for the first owners, good for all of the enthusiasts.

Right? Even the gear lever looks so darn good. In terms of looks I give it a sploosh out of ten. Wait was that supposed to be a number..

I think it's good for everyone. The first owners get to enjoy the car for a while, sell it off while it's still valuable, and move on to another expensive car. Seriously, go look at the R8 forums, people on there own dream garages. Many people have had multiple R8s.
Then in 10-15 years, the early R8s will have gone through a couple people's garages and can finally be enjoyed by people like me who dreamed of owning one when they came out, but weren't even close to being able to afford them. We can pick them up, take good care of them, and someday sell them as a collectors item.
To many new R8 owners, it's probably just a car. A great car, but they could have picked up any number of cars instead of it. To us, it's a dream, and owning one will be our car ownership zenith.

You're definitely correct. Super car forums are the most fun websites to be on, especially because the owners who care enough about their car actually use the forums. So they're really nice and knowledgeable.
